The Hunger Games
By now I am sure that I am one of the few people to have not read these books and one of the last people to see the movie. However, this means that I really don't need to explain the movie to you readers because you all probably know the plot.
But I'm going to summarize anyways. So 2 kids, a boy and a girl, are picked as tributes from each of the 12 districts to fight to the death in the Hinger Games. Katniss volunteers after her sister is picked. The rest of the movie follows her through the competition as she outsmarts the creators of the game, saving her friend Peta as well (I will not apologize for this spoiler because even I knew the plot of the movie before watching it, so I expect this to be common knowledge. If you didn't know, you do now.)
I honestly loved this movie. The characters are so human. They aren't perfect heroes. These are kids whose lives have been overturned for the entertainment of the people. The feel of the whole movie is very unique and despite the pitfalls that the characters have, you really do start to care about them. And the concept is really brilliant. Of course, now it's starting to get overdone.
I will admit that this made me want to read the books, against the advice of everyone I know that has read them. But for now, I'll just stick to the movies.
