Monday Movie Quotes

Image
In the spirit of last nights post, I introduce to you the first (and last) edition of Monday Movie Quotes: Avengers Edition.

The Avengers

This is my favourite Marvel movie yet. Honestly, Marvel is my new favourite movie company. The Avengers was awesome! I loved that as the viewer I could see not only what each of the characters was like and how they acted in certain situations, but also how they interact. Plus, I loved all the humour and witty banter that the characters had. I think it was an interesting choice to make Loki the villain, although it makes sense. Had Loki not been the villain, Thor would have had no reason to find a way back to earth and protect it. Side note: I know it probably didn't fit the plot, but I find it odd that Thor did not make more of an effort to find Jane (if he was in a chick flick, he would have...clearly I watch too many chick flicks). I was blown away by Loki's power and intelligence. I know that he double-crossed everyone in Thor , but I wasn't expecting him to be so manipulative. Yes, he had his staff and the Tesseract, but he managed to drive wedges between everyone. An s

The Hound of the Baskervilles

A Sherlock Holmes story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle I read this on the road trip, and apologize that I'm only getting to it now. I won't say much because I have since purchased a book containing the entire Sherlock Holmes collection and will read it A.S.A.P. Even though this story is not the first in the series, I felt that the author filled the reader in with enough information that they could understand who the characters were and what was happening. Of course, this may have been due to the fact that I have watched three different television versions of Doyle's famous stories over the years and have long been a fan. Overall, it was very good. The characters were great. I would like to mention that I was picturing the actors of both Jeremy Brett's version of Sherlock Holmes and BBC Sherlock as I read the story because the actor portrayals so well matched the characters. The case had me guessing until the end about this or that, but I loved trying to solve it along

I just finished another book today, so I went to enter it into my Book Lover's Journal (yes, I keep a journal of the books I've read...since 2012). Anyways, this quote is inside the front cover, and so I felt it fitting to share this now that I have finished another great classic. And don't worry, there will be more posts coming soon.

Reawakened: A Once Upon a Time Tale by Odette Beane As you likely already know, I love Once Upon a Time. Therefore, when I saw that the stories (or at least some) had been turned into a book, it was only logical to buy said book. This novel is simply a retelling of the first season of the show, in which each chapter is one of the episodes. The plot is the same, the characters are the same, the only real difference is the media being used to tell the story. I must admit that I got more into the show than the book, but perhaps this was because I already knew everything that was going to happen. Still, it was almost as good as watching it. One of the added benefits of the book is that the author was able to explore how the characters felt and other background details that may not always come across to the viewers on screen. I think that the book made Emma a bit more wishy-washy, for lack of a better word. She went back and forth constantly in her mind about whether or not she beli

Sunday Sayings (on Monday)

Sorry that there was a delay in this weeks Sunday Sayings. I was on the road and too busy to post, but now I am home and enjoying my normal life.

Books, Books, Books

I realized at the beginning of the summer that I had over 30 books to read! This was due to a combination of having not enough time to read (thanks to school) and being WAY too into buying books. Now let me explain the biggest dilemma. Of these 30+ books, about half are the first in a series. I thought that it would be smart to only buy the first one, then if I like it I can get the rest of the series later. A smart as it is, it means that if I like it, I will be adding at least one other book to my list. For this reason, I decided not to buy any more books this summer.... This plan, however, has already become an utter failure. Today I bought The Complete Works of Sherlock Holmes and The Grimm Fairytales. An those books are HUGE! Can you guess what I will be doing this summer? P.S. I promise todo my best to keep this blog up to date with what I am reading.

X-Men: First Class

I would like to start by apologizing to any die-hard Marvel and X-Men fans for skipping movies. At the time that I recorded the marathon, I assumed that this was the third movie since they had played the first two in order. Luckily, I do not think that it was necessary for me to watch every movie in between since this one jumps back to the beginning of the X-Men. And don't worry, I will watch all the movies that I am still missing. Now, without further ado, let me get to the movie. I have to admit that this is my favourite X-Men movie so far. I feel a bit guilty about this since it does not include any of the legendary actors of the first few, and even the majority if the characters in this one are different. However, I loved everything about this movie. The mutants that you meet in this movie are almost better than the originals because they have such unique physical mutations, which I felt there was less of in the first two. Even the personalities of the characters seem deeper

This Means War

I've been watching a lot of movies. Can you tell that it's summer? This time I decided to watch a little rom-com to break up my action movie streak. This Means War was a really unique plot for this genre. The fact that the two men unknowingly fall for the same girl...awesome. And while the love triangle is a very common rom-com feature, I am glad that This Means War changed it up by showing it from all sides rather than just the girl's side. Of course, the fact that they are CIA and turn their rivalry into a full-out spy war is just genius!! What else can I say? I love  the relationship that the guys have...I mean they were practically raised together! They are the best friends there ever were. No wonder they have the same taste in women (including Tuck's ex-wife). I felt so bad that this actually came between them, but it was their own fault for not dealing with it honestly. In the end, everyone got hurt by what happened. Thankfully, however, they were able to make

So I know that this is a little late. I have been on the road and haven't had the time to post, but now that I have reached my destination I will definitely be catching up on all the things I wanted to blog about. Anyways, since I am travelling, I thought that today's saying should e relate. To this topic.
