The Hunger Games

By now I am sure that I am one of the few people to have not read these books and one of the last people to see the movie. However, this means that I really don't need to explain the movie to you readers because you all probably know the plot. But I'm going to summarize anyways. So 2 kids, a boy and a girl, are picked as tributes from each of the 12 districts to fight to the death in the Hinger Games. Katniss volunteers after her sister is picked. The rest of the movie follows her through the competition as she outsmarts the creators of the game, saving her friend Peta as well (I will not apologize for this spoiler because even I knew the plot of the movie before watching it, so I expect this to be common knowledge. If you didn't know, you do now.) I honestly loved this movie. The characters are so human. They aren't perfect heroes. These are kids whose lives have been overturned for the entertainment of the people. The feel of the whole movie is very unique and despite

Maleficent

As always, use discretion in reading this post because there may be spoilers. Maleficent  is one of those new tales that not only reimagines a fairytale by changing what it means to be a villain, but it is also one of those which redefines true love. Starting the magnificent acting talents of Angelina Jolie, the story of Disney's Sleeping Beauty  is told through the perspective of Maleficent. In this tale, Maleficent is a sweet young fairy who falls for a poor boy named Stefan. However that boy puts his ambitions and freed above his emotions and betrays the fairy by cutting off her wings. For this reason, Maleficent learns to hate people and separates the magic creatures from the human world. Then, as the classic tale goes, King Stefan and his wife have a beautiful baby girl and invite everyone in the kingdom, except Maleficent, to a celebration in the princess's honour. But Maleficent finds out and interrupts the other fairies giving her gifts and curses the girl. On her 16th

You may have noticed my bizarrely titled "overkill Monday edition". In order to make up missing yesterday's Sunday Sayings due to lack of Internet, I am posting tons of quotations relating to superheroes. This is also in anticipation of the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron  on Friday. And I already have tickets! And I couldn't resist adding this when I came across it:

Happy World Book Day!!

As a reader, you know that I can't resist an opportunity to celebrate books. I do t know what I would do without books. They really have shaped my world and myself. I found this link of 85 quotes about books and reading. Many of these are quotes that I have heard in the past, but they are so poetic and true. yourstory.com/2015/04/world-book-day-quotes/   My favourite quote from this list right now is "I was born with a reading list I will never finish" - Maud Casey, because it feels so true of my life right now. P.S. I'm finally free to do more blogging! Yay! Time to catch up on my ever-expanding list.
