Sunday Sayings

I've decided that these posts might be more interesting, for all of us, if I share some thoughts or updates with you all.
First, I want to tell you about what happened when my family was watching TV earlier. A shoe commercial came on, showing a woman's feet while she walked up a stack of old books. My sister said she really liked the shoes, and I suddenly realized that I didn't know what the shoes looked like because I was paying more attention to the books. So that tells you what kind of people we are.
Well, right now - just like everyone else in the world - I am reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I figured that it was only fitting to share a Harry Potter quote.
I love this quotation because it inspires us to step beyond our circumstances to become what we know we can be, rather than what others believe we are. This statement is also extremely significant for the eighth book.
Believe it or not, this has a great spiritual message too. Even though we are born as imperfect beings in a broken world, we have the ability to overcome that. We can always strive to be better people, to be righteous and loving; to choose light.
I want you all to remember this as you go into your weeks.

Les Misérables

[Warning: mild spoilers] Many people may be unaware that Les Misérables  was originally a novel by Victor Hugo, the man who wrote The Hunchback of Notre Dame . And just like his other novel, Les Mis is extremely long. The book tells the story of Jean Valjean's redemption after getting out of prison and the way that he tries to do whatever he can to assist others, until the day when Inspector Javert realizes who he is and he is forced to spend the rest of his days running and hiding from the officer who is bent on revenge. The one thing that continues to push Jean Valjean to run is a girl named Cosette. He adopted the girl when her mother, who had worked for him, passed away. The girl was in the care of a selfish couple whom the mother had paid to raise the little girl. It's very much a Cinderella story, with Cosette being treated more like a servant than a part of the family. The Strange Case of Finley Jayne

WARNING: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS Sorry that I have been more sporadic in posts as of late (not that anyone has yet to read this blog and notice). Anyways, my most recent read was The Strange Case of Finely Jayne by Kady Cross. This is more of a novella than a novel, and I finished it within only a couple of sittings. I have become fascinated with the steampunk style for the last few years, and have had this book on the backburner, so I am glad that I finally got to read it. This book is about a young girl who has another, more dark, side to her personality. She is different, and finds it difficult to make friends or keep a job. One day, Lady Morton requests Finley to fill the position of companion to her daughter, Phoebe. Finley quickly realizes that this job is one she cannot lose because Lady Morton hired her with the full knowledge of the girl's capabilities.
