It's been a while, I know, but I promise not to leave anyone hanging forever waiting for the next post. So, without further ado, let me begin. I finally got to catch up with my recordings! (Makes fake crowd sounds). So X2...wow. I have to say right off the bat that there was a bit more plot than the first movie. The flaw: maybe too much plot. What do I mean by "too much plot"? There is so much reference to the past and other events that are not fully explained. Everything revolving around Wolverine and his past is very vague. I watched it twice and still felt like I was missing something. Of course, the writers did do that at least somewhat on purpose, as shown by Wolverines statement to Stryker that he'd rather go with the X-men than learn about his past. Also, they did create the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie to explain everything to the viewers (I am planning on watching this too, do not worry). I have become fascinated with the steampunk style for the last few years, and have had this book on the backburner, so I am glad that I finally got to read it. This book is about a young girl who has another, more dark, side to her personality. She is different, and finds it difficult to make friends or keep a job. One day, Lady Morton requests Finley to fill the position of companion to her daughter, Phoebe. Finley quickly realizes that this job is one she cannot lose because Lady Morton hired her with the full knowledge of the girl's capabilities. While this show is so popular for its reinvention of classic fairy tales, talented actors, and well-written plots, the main idea behind Once Upon a Time is the theme of hope. The writers, Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz say that the show is about hope, while their first show, Lost , was about redemption. I am sure that many others like myself have seen the redemption theme appearing in OUAT as well. Still, it is clear that the main message really is about having hope, faith, and belief, no matter the circumstances. The biggest example of this is with Snow White and Prince Charming. In all of their hard times, and whenever they are separated, they always have hope that they will find each other again. At the start of the show, they have no memories of each other, yet they have a special bond. This book is a work of speculative fiction written in the 1940's about what the author thought might happen if the popularity and power of totalitarian governments continued to grow after WWII. Winston Smith live in London, Oceania under the Party and its figurehead Big Brother. Winston is what the Party would call a thoughtcriminal, he hates the government. He meets Julia, another rebel, and the two begin an affair and talk of conspiring against the government. O'Brien, a member of the Inner Party, tells Winston that an underground rebel community known as the Brotherhood exists. As it turns out, the Brotherhood was only a trap to ensnare Winston and Julia, and likely many others. So this weekend I unintentionally went on a spree of watching Marvel movies. Over the past year I have become completely enthralled with the Marvel superheroes. It all started with Iron Man, and then Thor. Sadly, more often than not I miss a part of the movie, but I still find them to be very captivating. So let me discuss my newest Marvel movie with you. It was X-Men, which was honestly so neat. I love the concept of the school for gifted children. It is reminiscent of Camp Half-Blood or Hogwarts, and I would love to go to any of them.  Not only would it be the most amazing school to attend, but it is ingenious that they hide in plain sight. I love the way that Professor Xavier is both the mentor for the mutants, but a father figure. Once again I relate this back to him being like Chiron or Dumbledore. Plus, I have always loved the idea of misfits having a place where they can all be together and not feel out of place. Perhaps it's because I am one...but also because it is amazin...

Let me start by saying that I work as a cashier in a grocery store. That being said, if you've ever worked in customer service then you probably know exactly what sort of things I am about to talk about. Today the store was busy and understaffed. I wouldn't mind that except that in my last hour my customers seemed to be coming up with ways to deliberately annoy me. If you have never worked in a grocery store or paid attention, then there are two things that you need to know to understand this story. One, the belt where the customer puts their groceries before they are scanned has a sensor and moves automatically so that everything is within the cashier's reach. Second, that belt gets narrower towards the scanner for exactly the same reason. So this man comes up with the brilliant idea to fill the belt as tight a possible when he loads it.
