The Hound of the Baskervilles
A Sherlock Holmes story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
I read this on the road trip, and apologize that I'm only getting to it now. I won't say much because I have since purchased a book containing the entire Sherlock Holmes collection and will read it A.S.A.P.
Even though this story is not the first in the series, I felt that the author filled the reader in with enough information that they could understand who the characters were and what was happening. Of course, this may have been due to the fact that I have watched three different television versions of Doyle's famous stories over the years and have long been a fan. Overall, it was very good. The characters were great. I would like to mention that I was picturing the actors of both Jeremy Brett's version of Sherlock Holmes and BBC Sherlock as I read the story because the actor portrayals so well matched the characters. The case had me guessing until the end about this or that, but I loved trying to solve it along with Watson before Sherlock revealed it all. An easy read, and a brilliant one too. This is a must-read classic.
